TiVo is disputing Facebook’s claim over the trademarked “thumbs up” icon.
Facebook and TiVo are in a trademark dispute over which company owns the humble “thumbs up” icon.
In 2010, Facebook trademarked the icon that has permeated every corner of the site, with more than a billion people “liking” status updates, photos, videos, links and pages every day.
In October, TiVo challenged that trademark filing, arguing it’s been using thumbs up and thumbs down icons in its DVR software since 1999.
