
By BY BARBARA ROUTEN | Published: March 28, 2013 BRANDON – The Bill Carey Boys and Girls Club of Brandon sent its Robosharks team to the Orlando regional contest of the 22nd annual FIRST Robotics Competition.
The five contestants, chosen from 11 active team members, finished 26th out of 62 contestants, their best showing in three years.
A celebration of their progress took place March 20 at the center, 213 N. Knights Ave., where team members took turns demonstrating their robots capabilities.
The group had eight weeks to create a large robot that could aim and launch a Frisbee toward eye-level and higher targets in a game called Ultimate Ascent.
