
Robotics teams from Beaverton, Lake Oswego and Newberg will head to the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships in St. Louis after taking top wins at a tournament Sunday at South Meadows Middle School.
The statewide robotics competition brought together 36 top middle and high school teams to compete with custom-made robots in an all-day competition in Hillsboro titled, “Ring It Up.
The four teams headed to the world championships in April are, Batteries in Black, a Beaverton 4-H team; Untitled-8, a Lake Oswego neighborhood team; Newberg Tigers, of Newberg High and Short Circuits, a Beaverton neighborhood team.Earlier in this year more than 100 teams from around Oregon and Southwest Washington competed at qualifying tournaments, and the top-performers competed Sunday..
