<p>PHILOMATH One by one, students filed out of the computer lab at Philomath Middle School on Wednesday. Tucked under their arms were black Acer netbooks, which they opened and activated when they sat down at tables in the school library.</p><p>Then the students quickly started using the netbooks to research information for an Anne Frank timeline project for their reading and literature class.</p><p>Netbooks are a category of small, lightweight and inexpensive laptop computers that have found favor as classroom tools.</p><p>This year, Philomath Middle School students are using netbooks to work on tasks ranging from research to completing state assessments.
