KUALA LUMPUR: The Government has increased the 1Malaysia netbook allocation by 1.5 million units from one million units, based on public demand.

Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Joseph Salang said the additional units would be handed out in stages from the year-end.

He said as of Nov 9, a total of 800,000 1Malaysia netbooks had been distributed nationwide, of which 65% were distributed to students and the rest to eligible members of the community.

He said each 1Malaysia netbook was also provided with a one-year warranty.
