The iPhone and iPad just got a little safe as Norton updates its mobile security solution to include the iOS platform. Besides multi-platform and multi-device support, the Norton Mobile Security update also includes the ability to backup and restore contacts across iOS and Android platforms, as well as a Web-based management system for all your devices.
However, Norton Mobile Security on iOS doesn’t have as many features as the Android version, probably because there aren’t as many malware threats on Apple’s closed platform. For example, the iOS version of Norton Mobile Security can’t remotely snap a photo to identify who has your missing device, block unwanted calls and text messages or detect and remove mobile threats–all of which are possible on the Android platform.
When asked about Windows Phone 8 support, David Hall, Norton Asia Pacific’s regional consumer product marketing manager, said that the company is “currently evaluating which additional platforms [it can] support and will make further announcements when news becomes available”.
Norton Mobile Security is available for S$19 (US$15.27) from Norton’s online store.
