<p>Detroit Public Schools is giving away notebook computers on Wednesday to lure more students to class on the day attendance affects state funding for the district.</p><p>DPS Emergency Financial Manager Roy Roberts is expected to talk to parents as the portable computers are distributed to students at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Communication Media Arts High School, Frederick Douglass Academy and Cass Technical High School.</p><p>The district picked Count Day as the day to kick off the new computer notebook program for students in grades eight through twelve.</p><p>The district declined to release which schools will receive the computers on Wednesday.
