What do you think of the Terminator fixing cancer? While perhaps not as radical, Quantum International (PINK: QUAN) is looking at using nanobotsvery, very tiny creationsto attack cancer. And it's pretty promising.

At the NanoRobotics Lab in Canada's Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, scientists have successfully steered tiny robots wirelessly through blood vessels of living organisms with the aid of magnetic coils found in MRI machines. These microscopic robots can easily access places within the body that catheters cannot, and they can execute incredibly precise maneuvers that would otherwise require invasive surgery.

From the Daily Finance:

"Using robots to deliver cancer-killing medicine directly to a tumor deep within the body could forever change the treatment of the disease," said Quantum CEO Robert Federowicz. "The market for such astonishing technology would obviously be enormous. Quantum is dedicated to bringing just such innovations out of the laboratory and into the global marketplace."

Read also:

QUAN: New Caregiver Robots Poised to Change Elderly Lives (Robotics Tomorrow)

Scientists working with nanobots that could one day cure cancer, other diseases (TweakTown)

Scientists working on using nanobots to cure cancer (VR-Zone)

Explore: 14 additional articles.
