Korea Telecom (KT) has revealed its plans for the Spider Laptop, an accessory for Android devices that aims to do what Motorola’s Laptop Dock has consistently failed to achieve.
At first glance the device may look like an ordinary laptop, but in actual fact it doesn’t have much in the way of conventional computing hardware inside there’s no processor, memory or operating system, for instance.
The idea is that your Android smartphone does all the thinking while the laptop dock is merely a new way of interacting with said device through its keyboard, touchpad and larger screen. We’re not sure if the display is a touchscreen or a regular one at this point.
It’s not a new concept, we’ve seen similar stuff with Asus’ Padfone and Motorola’s Atrix dock before, but to be fair it’s not as if this is new territory for KT either as last year we saw the company’s plans for the KT Spider device, a phone, tablet, laptop and gamepad all-in-one.
