If you found yourself having some difficulty getting into the server tonight, it’s because we’ve been fighting off a DoS attack on one of our magazine sites and my personal site. The attacks are on the only two sites referenced from the CNN articles I wrote.

We traced the attacks to the Philippines. Of course, some savvy person could have routed to the Philippines, but ya never know. In the meantime, we’ve basically been down for the last few hours and I’ve been building custom code and working with my excellent ISP Prominic.NET to block it. Late Friday night, while they’re packing for Lotusphere, and they helped out. This is why I always recommend them.

Anyway, I wrote some code and it looks like between Prominic’s firewall stuff and my added security protocols this nuisance has been defanged. Gotta love the Internet! — David
