New machine prints sheets of light

Start with an<A HREF="http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/10/10/sheets.of.light.oleds.ap/index.html?eref=rss_tech"> 8-inch wide plastic film</A> sealed with a layer of metal foil, apply electric current, and watch it light up with a blue-white glow.

The process uses compounds known as organic light-emitting diodes, or OLEDs and it's already being used in cell-phone displays but it might be used to light up rooms in the future.
