Palm supports limiting driver use

Palm is supporting the passage of California State measure, SB 1613, which <A HREF="http://investor.palm.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=209546">prohibits automobile drivers</A> from using a wireless phone while operating a vehicle unless the driver is using the device in hands-free mode. Palm was the first, and to date remains the only, major cell phone manufacturer to support the bill. Palm believes that the bill responsibly addresses evidence that handheld cell phone use increases the risk of accidents. Palm's Treo smartphones fully support hands-free use. They are equipped with speaker phones and are compatible with a number of hands-free accessories, including car kits, headsets and earpieces.
