Voice over Internet protocol provider Skype, which is owned by eBay, is one of a handful of companies that had racketeering charges brought against it by StreamCast, the developer of the popular peer-to-peer network Morpheus. Documents filed in a California central court accuse Skype, Kazaa, Sharman Networks and other firms of violating the United States’ RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act by employing StreamCast’s file-sharing technology.
