Palm reported <A HREF="http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1035_22-6053600.html?tag=zdnn.alert">a better-than-expected quarterly profit</A> as it sold more Treo cell phones and introduced a new device based on Microsoft's Windows operating system. Palm also gave a forecast for the current quarter that topped Wall Street estimates, and its shares rose almost 7 percent in after-hours trade.
