digitalMASS has an article on Hart InterCivic Inc.’s eSlate voting device. According to the article, the device, “resembles an oversized palmtop computer” and was used in several counties in Texas and Colorado in last week’s election. Voters are assigned a personal identification number to ensure that each person can only vote once. It’s interesting that handheld computing may be just the solution needed to prevent situations like the one in Florida from happening again.
