Contributing Editor Frank McPherson reports from Spring Comdex ’99 that Windows CE played a small role in Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates’ keynote address. During the address, the use of a Vadem Clio, Terminal Server Client and wireless networking to administer a Windows 2000 server was demonstrated for the audience. Also, it was announced that Microsoft will provide a virtual private networking client in the next release of Windows CE for the corporate environment. This software will allow corporate users to connect to their company’s network using a local internet service provider. Microsoft says that their goal is to ship the next version of Windows CE by the end of the year.
