Walking through the campus of Casa Grande Union High School, up the stairs to the second story, many classrooms are visible.
Each room has a different story, with some being the location where many students have found their passion, their calling for life. But others have fewer of those stories and more of uninterested kids losing necessary connections with their education as they fail to make sense of what benefit it will ever bring them.
Then comes Room D211. On the outside, it looks just like any other classroom. But on the other side of that door is a place of transformation, in more ways than one. Inside, loose parts turn into fully functioning machines, and unambitious kids turn into engineers that could very well shape the future of the world.
Room D211 is the home of the CGUHS Robotics Club, a small group of students who dedicate their time after school to using math, geometry and physics to solve problems they never knew existed. At the moment, they’re doing this for fun, sending their robots to small competitions around the area to show off their handiwork.
