Beginning next Friday, July 19, Sprint will be offering one of its first Windows 8-based phones, the HTC 8XT, for $100 after a rebate. The HTC 8XT is comparable to HTC’s midrange 8S, but is the first Windows 8 smartphone to come with “BoomSound,” which means that it has dual front-facing stereo speakers and a dedicated amplifier. The 8XT has a 4.3-inch display, a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera. Sprint is also expected to launch the Windows 8-based Samsung Ativ S Neo sometime this summer.
