<p>Students from across the nation are combining science, engineering and business skills to compete in the annual Bayou Region FIRST Robotics Competition happening at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner this weekend.</p><p>The varsity sport of FIRST Robotics combines the excitement of a sport with the rigors of science and technology. The teams have strict rules, limited resources, and time limits.</p><p>There are 57 teams competing in the competition this year. They are invited to come from anywhere in the country and around the world to compete alongside the Louisiana and Mississippi teams.</p><p>Teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.
